FILA BIDS BEM VINDO TO A NEW ERA WITH THE 2013 POLO CUP CARNIVAL

It was indeed a red-letter day to remember as it’s the only chic party that has a Brazilian Carnival theme as FILA Philippines organized a polo match + party held  at the Manila Polo Club. Manila’s top socialites and celebrities were present during the said affair. Brazil-born actor and FILA endorser Fabio Ide, with entertainment to be provided by Guarana, the Escola de Samba de Manila Dancers, the Maracuja Dancers, and Talentadong Pinoy Hall-of-Famer Astroboy.
Manila’s finest to grace the event, including Fabio’s fellow FILA endorsers Georgina Wilson, Borgy Manotoc, Tim Yap, and FILA’s first couple, the ever gorgeous president and CEO of FILA Philippines Cris Albert, and husband and company chairman Butch Albert who also happens to be celebrating his birthday on this month of hearts.
The entertainment has been especially prepared to bring the concept to its full.  Guarana is the country’s leading proponent of traditional and authentic Bossa Nova and Samba.  The Escola de Samba de Manila, founded by the same minds behind Guarana, has taken unto itself the task of bringing Brazilian Carnival to the event with their bright, festive colors and infectious, pulsating rhythms.  This is as close as we can get to an authentic Mardi Gras festival without leaving the country!

 Why Brazilian Carnival?
Merely because when it comes to emotion, color, atmosphere, and sheer over-the-top joyous celebration, there’s nothing that beats the Brazilian method.  This is a perfect welcome for FILA’s bigger direction in 2013, a new era for the brand that features innovation while still taking its cues from a rich and storied past.  FILA is the oldest and wisest of the brands, and throughout its history, it has stayed true to boldness, color, and design.  Fans can look forward to more of this, but taken to a whole new level.
New brands and new lines equal a new level of excitement for FILA die-hards and those just discovering the marque.  The revamped range includes sport and lifestyle masterpieces for everyone.
FILA Everest – The old adage goes “tough times never last but tough people do,”.  Everest is a no-nonsense brand that believes in dreaming big and doing big.  It is built for those who lead the extreme active lifestyle, who regularly tread on the cutting edge, the nature adventurer; yet it remains comfortable, allowing more freedom of movement without sacrificing durability.  Lightweight but protective, Everest shoes are designed to meet the performance needs of the adventurous.
FILA Outdoors – More than a brand, Outdoors is an answer to a question.  It is a response to one of the deepest and most basic of human needs, the desire to bring back the simple joys and pleasures of childhood.  It is the direct result of the blood that runs through our veins, and the revolutionary return of the Pinoy.  It is what FILA consumers want and need.
FILA Tiva – The Heart of Tiva is escape, a yearning for love, light, freedom.  It is for the girl who takes the road less traveled.  The Soul of Tiva is the mantra “follow the light.”  It represents a new lifestyle and culture that loves the open sea, freedom, and nature.  It follows alternative sports like surfing, diving and kiteboarding, but with less emphasis on performance and more detail on the soul.
FILA Freestyle – A new hyper brand forged by the classic timelessness of FILA Vintage and the irresistible call of FILA Outdoors.  A brand full of strength and personality, it screams youth at its prime but reflects a respect for the classics.  Freestyle is for the Old Timeless, Livewire, Agro, Emo, Creative fun-seeker.  Freestyle is anything but shy.
FILA believes that sport is an artform, a combination of beauty, luxury, and passion, form and movement.  Sport can be viewed as a painting in a gallery or a ballet in a theatre.  Sport is inspiring and inspired.  As a company founded in Italy, FILA, more than anyone, recognizes the art of sport, the importance of design, and the feel uniquely tied to it.

Araneta Center Lighting Parade

I had been at the right place and time. My family and I just came from Horseshoe Village that Saturday afternoon and was about to go home. We were surprised to see another relative who informed us about the Araneta Center Lighting Parade which was about to start that same afternoon. Mommy figured out, since we're already in Cubao, it will only take a few more minutes before the parade will start. Hence, we decided to stay and watch the parade. These are some of the photos I've taken.

Marching bands played a Christmas tune.

Even terrible two years olds like Francine Yllen Quijano here awaited for the parade.

Here's the author wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

My First Ride on an Airplane

My cousin Russiana, the author, Aunt Nelly and cousin Baby Francine.

They say when you dream, dream BIG! It was July 10, 2011 I had always dreamed of this and it’s hard to believe it has finally happened. I had my first ride in airplane when our entire clan went to Boracay Island last July 10. It truly was a dream come true. As a toddler, I remember I used to say Buh-bye each time an airplane passes by our home. And I used to draw pictures of me riding on it, so when I was told last January that I’d be turning my dream of flying into reality, I got so excited.

From that time on, I had counted the days and nights I had to sleep before that BIG day. When I had encountered that car accident last February, I thought I’m not going to make it anymore because the said trip was already booked and it’s non-rebookable and non-refundable.
And due to that car accident, I got an avulsed wound  (read: open wound) on my entire left foot and I thought it would probably take sometime before I could walk properly again. I guess I’m blessed because after three weeks of using crutches, and two and a half more months, I could not only walk—I could also run too. I got myself into street soccer right away (even if sometimes my foot still aches or my wound still bleeds). When summer came and my foot got a few skins back, I knew that my dream of riding an airplane will soon become a reality.

The day came and I could not hide my excitement. I even had to excuse myself from class for three days just so I could join the trip. The minute I got into the airport, I looked around and entered a place where I could whisper a prayer. I wanted to be sure, I had to ask God for a safe and happy trip.
I was also glad to know that there was a play area for kids like me at the airport. My cousins and I played for sometime while the adults waited for our departure time. When boarding time came, I had put on my jacket and sling my handy binoculars onto my neck. I wanted to be sure I’d be seeing an aerial view properly. I had asked for a window seat, just to be sure.

The minute I got seated on the Zestair’s window seat, I fastened my seatbelt right away. And then finally we were flying up in 26,000 miles above sea level, I had used my binoculars to see what’s below us. I saw trees that looked like the size of broccolis, buildings as small as matchboxes. I began to understand the Philippine map, the way crooked lines were done, with all the other islands dotted in between. I loved being so close to the clouds, they made me feel like I’m already in heaven.

Still feeling high up in the sky.
While up in the sky, we had also experienced some air packets, they’re like humps in the streets except that they’re up in the air. Even if the plane does move, when you’re inside it, it felt like it doesn’t. It’s just in a steady mode with occasional movement here and there.

Then after almost an hour, it was time for touchdown. I felt happy for making one of my dreams come true. I know I am blessed because not everyone’s given the chance to ride a plane. I wish to ride some more in the future. This trip is only the beginning…

My Summer Adventure at McDonalds

The author along with other kids who participated in McDonald's Kiddie Crew Workshop.

I have wanted to join the McDonalds' Kiddie Crew workshop for as long as I can remember. At that time, I was too young to join, I remember I was only about four years old. This summer, I really wanted to join after seeing some kids signed up. I was happy that finally my aunt and grandma gave me the go signal to join.

On my first day of Kiddie Crew, I was so excited. I'm a huge fan of McDonalds and I wanted to find out how the burgers and fried were done. When we were toured within the McDonalds facility, I realized that working for a fast food chain was not easy. You had to be quick in service while making sure to maintain the food's quality. And you have to make sure that the food is well-presented and clean.

What I liked best about the workshop was the art and crafts we did during our sessions. It was amazing. I  had colored a puzzle on my own and even had my own tumbler decorated. We sang and danced to the McDonald song and Kiddie Crew's official anthem.

The McDonalds Kiddie crew workshop only lasts for a week. So it was sad when we had to say goodbye to my batchmates, but we promised each other that we'd be seeing again next summer. We've waited for so long to have our McDonald's Grand Graduation day. It was held last May 28-29, 2011 at the World Trade Center.

I love the magical wizard's hat I made.

I can't take it off even after I went home.

I even kept the magical wizard's hat I made during the grand graduation. Even after I went home, I didn't want to take it off. I will always remember this summer. I had a grand time meeting new friends from my batchmates and knowing Ms. Mimi Logdat (McDonalds' Metrolane Kiddie Crew moderator) made my summer adventure extra special.

Welcome to my own page!

Blogging is something that my Aunt and grandma had been doing for the past few months. I've often accompanied them when they get invited to attend certain events and later on write about it. So I figured, even if I'm still a kid, why don't I make one for myself. It's going to be my page--i could write anything and everything I wanted to.

Welcome to my own blog! I hope I would get to write here more in the coming days.

God bless!
